Facelift Surgery
Are you a Candidate for a Facelift? As is common with all facial plastic procedures, good overall health and understanding the limitations of a facelift are vital. The goal of a Rytidectomy is to improve the overall facial appearance. Skin type, ethnic background, degree of skin elasticity, individual healing, basic bone structure, as well as a realistic attitude are factors that should be discussed prior to surgery. A facelift cannot stop aging, but what it can do is help your face look its best and give you a look of health and a more youthful appearance. A side benefit is that many patients experience increased self-confidence. Before deciding on a facelift, you should discuss with your facial plastic surgeon whether the overall effect will be more successful if additional changes are made in the chin and neck areas through other facial surgery. Many patients decide to have neck liposuction to remove excess fatty deposits in conjunction with a facelift.
The Surgical Procedure The surgery begins the incision in the area of the temple hair, just above and in front of the ear, and then continues around the earlobe, circling the back of the ear to the hairline behind the ear. The skin is raised outward before repositioning and tightening of the underlying muscle and connective tissue. Some fat may be removed, as well as excess skin. For men, the incision is aligned to accommodate the natural beard lines. In all cases, the incision is placed where it will fall in a natural crease of the skin for camouflage. After trimming the excess skin, the incisions are closed with fine sutures, often combined with surgical clips which permit surgery without shaving hair from the incision site. When the procedure is performed with a combination of mild sedatives, local anesthesia, and a mild intravenous anesthesia, the patient will experience little discomfort. Following the surgery, a dressing is placed to protect the face and apply mild pressure overnight.
Post Operative Expectations Even though most patients experience very little pain after surgery, the surgeon will still prescribe medication. Some degree of swelling and bruising is unavoidable, and your surgeon may instruct you to use cold compresses during the first 12 hours to keep swelling to a minimum. The dressing is removed within one to two days. You will also try to keep your head elevated when lying down, to avoid as much activity as possible, and to report any undue discomfort. In some cases, a drainage tube may have been inserted during surgery. This will be removed on the first or second day after surgery. All sutures and clip are removed within five to 10 days following surgery. Avoidance of vigorous activity is recommended for three weeks. Patients should prearrange for post-surgery support from family and friends. Recovery usually takes two to three weeks, though many patients go back to work in two weeks. Scars are usually not noticeable after enough time has passed for them to mature. In any case, they are easily disguised in natural skin creases, by the hair, or, in persistent cases, by makeup until total healing has occurred. Bear in mind that the aging process continues after surgery and that some relaxation of tissues will occur over the first few weeks. Facial plastic surgery makes it possible to correct many facial signs of premature aging that can undermine self-confidence. By changing how you look, cosmetic surgery can help change how you feel about yourself. With the care of our expert team you can achieve your best possible appearance.

Mini Facelift Surgery
Are you a candidate for a mini-facelift? If you have prominent jowls, loss of a refined jaw line, or loose skin in the neck – a mini-facelift may be perfect for you. Also, some patients who have had a prior facelift many years ago are candidates for a ‘touch-up’ facelift using the mini-lift approach.
The surgical procedure A mini-facelift utilizes a shorter incision that is hidden around the ear, but otherwise provides the same long-lasting results of a full facelift. The deeper tissues of the face are approached through small incisions, and these layers are tightened. After trimming excess skin the incisions are closed with fine sutures, often combined with surgical clips which permit surgery without shaving hair from the incision site. The procedure is performed with a combination of mild sedatives, local anesthesia, and a mild intravenous anesthesia, and there is little discomfort. Following the surgery, a dressing is placed to protect the face and apply mild pressure overnight. Post operative expectations Recovery from a mini-facelift is 3-5 days, with return to full activity by one week. This is a great option to quickly become the new, younger version of you!

Eye Lift
Blepharoplasty, more commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure designed to remove and reposition the fat, muscle, and skin surrounding the eye to create a tighter, more alert and youthful look. In some cases, when sagging of the eyelids is extreme, patients find that their eyesight is improved after Blepharoplasty, due to the removal of the obstruction. Eyelid surgery is a corrective procedure that can reduce bags under the eyes, remove excess wrinkles, to provide the youthful appearance to the eyes. One of the first things noticed about a person is their eyes. During the aging process, wrinkles, lines, and puffiness contribute to a tired or aged appearance.
Lower Lid Blepharoplasty The procedure for lower lid Blepharoplasty consists of reshaping the lower eyelid, removing excess fat and skin that make up the ‘bags’ or the tired, sagging appearance under the eyes. This is done either using a trans-conjunctival or trans-cutaneous method, described below. Transconjunctival blepharoplasty is ideal for patients who have large bags under their eyes and little or no wrinkling In a Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty, the surgeon, working through a small incision inside the lower lash line, repositions fat deposits higher in the eye socket to eliminate bags and excessive puffiness in the area, leaving the patient with a younger, more vital appearance. Transcutaneous blepharoplasty is ideal for patients who have loose, sagging skin around the eyelids that requires tightening. In a Transcutaneous Blepharoplasty, working through a small incision below the lower lash line, the surgeon tightens the lower eyelid and the skin covering it, leaving the patient looking alert and rejuvenated. Excess fat is also removed as needed. Upper Lid Blepharoplasty Upper lid Blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin, fat, and muscle in the upper eyelid area in order to create a more youthful and alert appearance, and in some can improve the patient’s eyesight by correcting obstructive sagging eyelids.. In upper lid Blepharoplasty, the surgeon smoothes and lifts the upper eyelid skin, creating a more alert, youthful appearance.

Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is what is commonly referred to as a nose job Simply, it is any surgery procedure designed to reshape the nose, whether for cosmetic or for reconstructive purposes. Rhinoplasty procedures vary significantly from patient to patient, and any individual cosmetic procedure may consist of one or more of the following: . Reduce and/or reshape the bridge, nostrils, or tip of the nose . Better define the nose . Reshape and straighten the nose . Change the angle of the nose, either for cosmetic purposes or to resolve breathing problems Depending on the individual factors involved in any given cosmetic nose surgery, the surgeon may choose either a closed or open procedure for Rhinoplasty. Closed Rhinoplasty A closed rhinoplasty is a procedure in which an incision is made on the inside of the nose. This limits the applicability to procedures that can be effectively performed via a small incision with limited access. Benefits of closed rhinoplasty are that it is less invasive, bruising and swelling are minimized, the scars are completely hidden from view, and the recovery times are shorter. Open Rhinoplasty An open Rhinoplasty is a procedure in which incisions are made, both on the inside of the nose, as in the closed Rhinoplasty, and on the columella, the small area between the nostrils. Because open Rhinoplasty procedures offer greater access to the nose, it is frequently more applicable for complicated or precise procedures. Because open Rhinoplasty is a more invasive procedure, however, bruising and swelling are greater and the recovery period is a bit longer than with a closed procedure.

Ear Reshaping
Otoplasty, cosmetic surgery to the outer ear is one of the few procedures commonly performed on children. By about age four, ears are almost fully grown. As such, many parents and children choose an Otoplasty procedure to correct issues with oversized or protruding ears while the child is still young, as the condition will generally not be outgrown or improve with time. Although Otoplasty procedures are, of course, available for adults and older teens, most procedures are performed on children between four and fourteen years old. This cosmetic ear procedure is most often done under local anesthetic and sedation, although general anesthesia may be used on younger children so they are able to sleep through the procedure. While there are a variety of techniques in current use, the most common procedure involves reshaping the cartilage and excising excess skin at the back of the ear. In most procedures, the surgeon makes a very small incision at the back of the ear through which the cartilage making up the ear is carefully reshaped to achieve the desired shape and size.

This is an occasional problem in adolescent boys and older men. Fortunatly men no longer need to keep this covered up with clothing. Outpatient surgical procedures can now be performed in our facility that let men return to a normal apperance after one operation.

Liposuction Tumescent VS Ultrasonic
Liposuction – Tumescent & Ultrasonic
Liposuction is a procedure in which a surgeon removes targeted areas of fat using a device consisting of a thin metal tube (a cannula) and a suction device.
Liposuction is primarily used to eliminate areas of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise, and areas of fat that have accumulated simply due to the aging process. Specifically, many people will develop pockets of fat around the abdomen, hips, legs, and neck, as we age and get “fat shifting.” Genetics can be a component as well. Liposuction results in a slimmer and better proportioned contour. Liposuction is used effectively to reduce love handles, saddlebags, a double-chin, a bulge around the waistline, or other unsightly fatty deposits in order to develop a better shape.
During liposuction, the surgeon targets very specific areas of fat for removal, sculpting and contouring the patient’s body to achieve more youthful looking, aesthetically pleasing proportions.
Liposuction techniques in use today:
Manual Liposuction
is a procedure in which a solution of a dilute anesthetic is injected into the area of fat to be removed, allowing the surgeon to effectively target the area to be treated.
Ultrasonic – Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction
Ultrasonic liposuction is a procedure in which the surgeon targets the fat to be removed using a specialized cannula that emits ultrasonic energy. Ultrasonic liposuction is especially useful when targeting areas of fibrous fat, which can be difficult to remove otherwise. This type of fat is most common in areas such as the back and, for men, the chest.

Male Body Contouring
Body Contouring for Men The hormonally-induced “spare tire” around your middle section? This area is made up of dense, fibrous tissue which in the past was difficult to remove. Our physicians use the innovative Ultrasonic and laser techniques to successfully remove this unwanted fat from the body. A small incision is made in the skin just large enough to insert a small hollow tube called a cannula. The cannula suctions the fat from the designated areas to create the desired look. This body contouring procedure is performed in our surgery center, usually under a general anesthesia. Generally, our patients are back to work in 3 to 5 days and can resume sport activities in 2-3 weeks.
